Why is this is problem? Well, with a family of 6 that has two teens and two toddlers, you can imagine the variety in taste buds we have happening. My daughter would eat schnitzel and mashed potatoes every day if she could. My 13 year old could happily survive on caesar salad and pizza. My 3 year old loves Kraft dinner, especially with a few hot dogs thrown in. And my almost 2 year old...well, actually I'm sure sure he's never met a food he doesn't like!
So what do you cook? My husband is a meat and potatoes with loads of gravy or ketchup. Being a mostly veggie kinda gal, this makes me nauseous. I love curry. My family, not so much. I love a big stirfry, but it's often not worth it when I hear my kids complaining, eeeeew, I'm not eating the peas, brocolli is not my favourite, etc.
How is this awesome? Well, every once and a while my husband beats me home. Not only does he beat me home, but he also starts dinner. This means that whatever 'questionable' vegetables and/or complaints get directed to him and not to me.
So, coming home and having dinner already going is actually doubly cool because not only do I not have to cook, but I also get a pass on the complaints for one whole dinner. When you consider the number of meals prepared...well, let's just say that I savour these little moments of AWESOME!
