This morning was destined to be one of my memorable moments as a Mama as my 3 year old has broken his little arm. We had tears the day it happened, his 1st xray results were delayed by a full day, two people and 10 stops later over the course of two days there was no air cast for his tiny arm to be found in KW, and after a brutally bad experience at the CML lab in Greenbrook Plaza, we wound up at the fracture clinic at Grand River Hospital this morning. A full 4 days from accident to fracture clinic...*sigh*
In true Nolan fashion, he played and read books through the various waiting periods. He charmed every attending and technician we crossed paths with. He amassed quite the sticker collection by the end of our journey (so did I ;) ) The doctor watched him laugh and play his way around our little waiting room bed on a variety of chairs. Basically he was being his usual monkey-like self. The doctor actually made us do another xray to make sure there actually was a fracture.
So when life hands you lemons, you have a choice. You can snarl, be impatient and bitter, you can question why oh why OR you can read books, you can make jokes, and you can smile....a lot. We made this morning fun. And sometimes, if you're really, really lucky, they have orange casts which just happens to be your kid's favourite colour and that, despite all the chaos and misfortune that brings you to the moment, is actually kind of AWESOME.
